Tips: 3 spaces that you can hang a portrait.

I am a firm believer in designing your home with a purpose, and by your own style. It's helpful to follow and get inspiration from well known designers, but its important to not make their style yours. Have your own style! Today, I am going to show you three places within your home that you can place a portrait. Wether it be a family heirloom or something that you pruchased from your local antique market, portraits tell a story. If you don't know the story behind it, make one up! Portraits are a converstation peice for many guests that may come into your home. I have attached links underneath the pictures so you can recreate the look in your own home!

#1 The Formal Living Room: this is a wonderful place to house some of your best artwork. When someone comes in your home, the formal living room is normally one of the first places they will go. In the picture above, they have styled white porcelain plates around the picture with Crystal lamps and a ginger jar, sitting on a stunning antique French dresser. Recreate this look: Blue and White Ginger Jar , Acrylic buffet lamp

#2 The Entry Way: This for sure is the first place that people will enter your home, and you want to make a statement. When you have "out of the ordinary" home decor it creates conversation and an ability to express and share your personal style. As shown above, the designer has used books to give the lamp more height, as well as a decorative box. They have a decorative plate, and fresh flowers. Recreate this look: Brass Lamp , Bamboo Easel , Antique Chinese Plate .

#3 The Bedroom: one of the most viewed places in a bedroom would be the bed, and above it. Normally because the bed is in the center of the room and is the focal point. In this gorgeous bedroom, they have a lovely blue wallpaper, with white nightstands and a wooden headboard, finished off with an antique portrait. Re-create this look: White & Gold Lamp , Antique White Dresser , Cheetah Print Throw Pillow .
